With the new Robert Mühle special edition, Mühle-Glashütte honors the life-work of the company's founder and at the same time revives a classic and rarely used complication: the pointer date. As is the case for a real manufactory timepiece, the mechanism was specially designed by the watchmakers of Mühle-Glashütte. An exclusive trait, which is emphasized by the limitation of the special edition to 100 copies.
Robert Mühle, who founded the family business in 1869, has made a significant contribution to Glashüttes' reputation with his high-precision measuring instruments. This year, he would be 175 years old - reason enough for the presentation of a classic manufac- turer timepiece in which the values he represents represent the most beautiful. The new Robert Mühle hand date not only combines the highest precision and the best readability, as it is for a mill clock. It is also characterized by two additional functions of the mechanical work, so-called "complications". These can be seen through the generous viewing window in the ground.
The heart of the timepiece is the watch movement "RMK 03" designed by the watchmakers in their own house. The factory builds on the Robert Mühle caliber RMK 01 with up / down display. Even the up / down display has been redesigned. In the RMK 03, the pointer date adds another complication, which finds place in the second third of the module board. Completed with the display of the small second at 6 o'clock, the factory consists of 180 parts with a total of 33 bricks, just 35 parts more than in the RMK 01.
In the spirit of classical Glashütter watchmaking, the new factory will be equipped with screwed gold chronometers and a finely engraved balance cock. In the case of fine regulation and decking, the manufactory caliber goes its own way. Because of course, the patented, especially shock-resistant Spechthaler fine-tuning is used. The deck board was also designed as a three-panel board with a separate cock for the anchor wheel.
From outside, the timer promises what it holds inside. With clear silver accents, the three totalizers stand out elegantly from the anthracite-colored dial. The hour digits and indices applied by quiet hand correspond to the hands made of polished stainless steel.
The 44 millimeters of brushed and polished stainless steel case and the Krokoleder strap with a stainless steel folding clasp provide the solemn framework for the exclusive complication of the pointer date. 1793 used for the first time in a pocket watch, this complication is rarely realized after the introduction of the window date. A suitable complication, therefore, for a timepiece from the Sonderedition R. Mühle & Sohn, which is above all understood as one: as a precise timepiece on the wrist.
